VANDENBERG To Be Featured In Dutch TV Program
January 22, 2004Long-defunct Dutch hard rock outfit VANDENBERG, led by one-time WHITESNAKE guitarist Adrian Vandenberg, will be featured in a Dutch TV program called "Single Luck" this Friday, January 23. The brainchild of producer "Tonko Dop", the show focuses on bands that produced one world smash hit before reverting to relative obscurity, and this week's episode will be about the VANDENBERG track "Burning Heart". Adrian and his old bandmates were reportedly interviewed for the show, which had previously focused on EUROPE's "The Final Countdown", among other songs.
In other VANDENBERG-related news, someone claiming to be VANDENBERG singer Bert Heerink's son Roger Heerink has stated in a recent online posting that VANDENBERG will be issuing a new DVD containing the band's old video clips and footage from various television appearances during the '80s. A February/March release is expected. In addition, a possibility exists that the band will reform for some performances, depending on the sales of the DVD.
Also on the VANDENBERG-related front, WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale's wife Cindy recently spoke to ElectricBasement.com about her cookbook, "Food That Rocks", featuring contributions from famous rockers like Ted Nugent, Steve Vai, Frank Banali, Brian May and more. She also explained that Vandenberg is still very much involved in Coverdale's career, both as a composer and cook! "You know, he does a lot of writing," she said. "He had an injury and it has made it hard for him to play guitar on stage. He actually got up and jammed with David this summer in Holland and that was great fun, the fans went crazy because he hasn't been on stage for a while. So, he is doing a lot of writing, and cooking. (laughs) He has a group of guys who all get together once a month and prepare these gourmet meals and they spend the whole day doing it. He loves to cook. I love when he and David are writing and he is at our house because then I don't have to cook! (laughs) 'Here is the kitchen, Adrian...' " Read the entire interview here.
